The project is aimed at the "double carbon" goal and the needs of nationally certified voluntary emission reduction (CCER) forestry carbon sink projects. It aims to achieve high-precision quantitative assessment of forest carbon sinks. It uses lidar technology to form a multi-scale forest carbon storage model to optimize forestry carbon sink project methodology and build a digital monitoring platform for forest carbon sinks. The implementation of the project will not only help enrich the accurate measurement theories and methods of forest carbon sinks, but also help promote forest carbon sequestration and increase sinks and carbon sink market transactions, which is of great significance to achieving the goal of "carbon neutrality".
At present, the Carbon Sink Research Institute of the Forestry and Grassland Bureau has signed a cooperation agreement with Tencent to cooperate in the research and development of digital forest carbon sink monitoring technology and the establishment of a digital forest carbon sink smart platform.
