In 2018, Dongfeng’s project on “full-power fuel cell passenger vehicle development” was approved under the National Key Research and Development Program. After three years of intensive efforts, the company’s technical center team conducted research on the entire vehicle and hydrogen fuel cell systems, developing medium- and high-power stacks as well as fuel cell systems. They established fuel cell electrochemistry, stack, and system testing laboratories at an internationally advanced level, and finally created China’s first full-power fuel cell passenger vehicle—the Dongfeng Hydrogen Boat. Equipped with an 80KW fuel cell system, the Dongfeng Hydrogen Boat H₂·e can start quickly even in temperatures as low as -30°C. A 3-minute hydrogen refueling session provides a driving range of 500 kilometers. It consumes only 0.751 kilograms of hydrogen per 100 kilometers, with a 95% hydrogen utilization rate for the entire vehicle. It has passed 70MPa load-bearing safety collision tests, featuring low hydrogen consumption and high safety standards. The High-Tech Research and Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology stated that this vehicle’s performance is among the best in China and at an international advanced level, offering broad application prospects.
