- Project background: Rapeseed is the winter oil crop with the largest planting area in the Yangtze River Basin in my country. In this region, rapeseed does not compete with the grain crop rice for land and has great development potential. Utilization of rapeseed heterosis is the main way to increase rapeseed yield. Currently, foreign hybrid rapeseed accounts for about 50% of the planting area. Our country's hybrid rapeseed accounts for about 60%, ranking among the forefront of the world. Hybrid rapeseed in my country is mainly cytoplasmic male sterility, and its sterility is affected by environmental temperature. The temperature at flowering stage is lower than 15℃. The sterile line has micro powder, which makes seed production risky. In view of the defects of the cytoplasmic male sterility system, this research found that sterility is not affected by temperature, and three lines of recessive genetic male sterile double-low rapeseed with high yield, disease resistance and strong lodging resistance.
- Main content: Using the double-low recessive genic male sterile two-type line 20118AB, temporary maintenance line M-6029 and restorer lines 03066 and 04047 we have selected and bred, the high-yield, disease-resistant and lodging resistant hybrids Xiangnong 03 and Huyouza 4 were bred. They were approved by Shanghai City and the national variety in 2007 and 2008 respectively.
- Key innovation points:
- The world is the world's leader in the transfer of near-isogenic genes of sterile lines and temporary maintainer lines: Through the transfer of recessive genic sterile near-isogenic genes, the genetic background of sterile lines and temporary maintainer lines is completely consistent, and the recessive genic sterile double low rapeseed hybrid has been bred, and the transfer method has obtained a national invention patent. The technical level is internationally leading.
- The technology for the asexual expansion of recessive genie male sterile lines and the production of full male sterile lines has achieved outstanding results: the use of asexual reproduction to produce full male sterile lines has increased the purity of seed production from the original 88%(national standard 82%) to more than 99%. Output increased by more than 40%, and its technical level was leading in China.
- Effective innovation of high oil content germplasm: Using recurrent selection method and combined with near infrared technology, high oil content lines 03066 and 04047 were bred, with oil content of 50.8% and 50.3% respectively, and were used as restorer lines, effectively increasing the oil content of Xiangnong 03 and Huyouza 4.
- The innovative effect of the variety is obvious: ① Outstanding high and stable yield characteristics: In the Shanghai urban trial, Xiangnong 03 yielded 172.4 kg per mu, an increase of 16.4% over the control. In the national regional trial, the yield per mu was 188.28 kg, an increase of 4.72% over the control. In the national biological trial, the yield per mu was 182.92 kg, an increase of 11.33% over the control. In the Shanghai urban trial, the yield per mu of Huyouza 4 was 181.78 kg, an increase of 7.3% compared with the control; in the national regional trial, the yield per mu was 172.7 kg, an increase of 5.55% compared with the control; in the national biological trial, the yield per mu was 168.0 kg, an increase of 8.75% compared with the control. The output level has reached international advanced.② The quality and resistance have been significantly improved: According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Xiangnong 03 has erucic acid content of 0.05%, glucosinolate content of 28.31μmol/g, and oil content of 41.36%. Huyouza No. 4 has zero erucic acid content, 29.61μmol/g glucosinolate content, and 44.63%. Quality indicators meet international standards. The results of the national regional trial showed that Xiangnong 03 was highly resistant to rapeseed sclerotiorum and virus diseases, and had strong lodging resistance. Huyouza 4 has low resistance to sclerotinia sclerotiorum and medium resistance to viral diseases. Strong resistance to lodging.③ The technical regulations for seed production of double-low male sterile rapeseed hybrid (F1) have been formulated and completed.
