With the development of urbanization and motorization, road traffic accidents have caused serious casualties and social losses, and a large number of traffic accidents have also brought great challenges to traffic police to maintain traffic safety. Relying on projects such as "Shanghai City World Expo Road Traffic Accident Analysis and Early Warning System", the National Natural Science Foundation of China "Research on Accident Cause Analysis and Safety Evaluation Methods at Traffic Signal Controlled Intersections", and "Revision of Road Name Specifications and Optimization and Demonstration Application of Accident Data Collection and Records", the project builds and demonstrates an urban road traffic safety analysis and management technology based on accident data based on Shanghai City. - A semantic expression standard for illegal locations of traffic accidents has been established and intelligent positioning of traffic accidents has been realized.
Innovation points:
(1) Based on the characteristics of traffic accident recording, the road network in Shanghai City is divided into five categories of road facilities and thirty categories of accident locations, and a unified "five elements" are proposed to record illegal accident locations;
(2) Based on the reference points of road facilities-accident location-in the semantic representation of traffic accident location, a scientific logical process is established to realize intelligent positioning of traffic accident electronic maps. - A road traffic accident prediction model was established and a traffic accident influencing factor system was constructed.

For the first time in China, traffic accident prediction models for signal-controlled intersections, urban main roads, urban expressways, suburban main roads, and highway facilities have been established for megacity systems. - In 2010, the "Shanghai City Road Traffic Accident Analysis and Early Warning System" was officially launched. As a road traffic accident analysis and management platform for the city, districts and counties of Shanghai City, it has been in use for 5 years. As of 2014, 44 accident-prone road sections have been identified at the municipal level and 60 at the district and county level. Obtained the software copyright "WebGIS Based Road Traffic Accident Analysis System V1.0".
- Since 2012, all traffic accidents and illegal records in Shanghai City have applied expression specifications and input controls, and the accuracy rate of traffic accident positioning has increased from less than 50% to 98.2%.
