Key innovations
The innovation of this product lies in that it uses by-products of the steel industry to replace high-energy-consuming and high-polluting cement, and is applied to mixing piles in foundation pit and even foundation treatment, realizing waste resources and filling the application gap in this field.
Potential economic benefits
This green technology product uses by-products of the steel industry to replace cement, significantly reducing the high energy consumption and high pollution costs of cement production. By turning waste into treasure, waste treatment costs are reduced, and more economical and environmentally friendly building materials are provided for foundation pit enclosures, with considerable economic benefits.
Potential climate benefits
This technology product directly and significantly reduces high-carbon emissions in the cement production process by replacing cement with industrial by-products. At the same time, efficient use of industrial waste, reduce landfill treatment, and promote resource recycling. This has significantly reduced the carbon footprint of foundation pit engineering materials and achieved significant carbon reduction benefits.

Solution details

At the southeastern front of the Shanghai Estuary, there are multiple layers of soft soil layers with large thickness in the shallow sediments. Due to the characteristics of low soil strength and high groundwater level, many underground engineering projects need to use foundation pit enclosures. The commonly used enclosures include several main types such as composite soil nailing walls, mixing pile gravity dams, and slab support systems. These enclosures generally require the use of cement-soil mixing pile structures to prevent water or retain soil. The cement-soil mixing pile uses a mixer to forcibly mix cement and soil to form a continuously overlapped cement-soil column plus solid.

Cement is the most important building material for mixing piles. However, the cement industry is also an industry with great pollution and high energy consumption. Developing alternative cement products is an important way to reduce energy consumption in the cement industry and strengthen environmental protection; Due to the late start and other reasons, the domestic research on soil hardener technology is still far behind that of developed countries. The research on hardener technology is not mature enough in theory or practice, causing many research to stagnate in the laboratory. At the stage, it has not been transformed into productivity in time; Baosteel Group, as the leader of national steel companies, produces a large number of industrial by-products in production and manufacturing every year. These by-products are currently mature and used in concrete materials instead of cement. These industrial wastes are mainly used in concrete materials to replace cement at this stage, but the application of this material in foundation pit and even foundation treatment is basically blank, and there is a need for further research and expansion of application.
