Solution details
In order to meet its own needs, Shanghai Automobile decided to develop a six-speed manual transmission with independent intellectual property rights. Named SCM250, it carries a torque of 250 Nm and is suitable for front-wheel drive vehicles with the engine transverse. The SCM250 six-speed manual transmission was independently developed by the technical center of Shanghai Automobile Group Co., Ltd. in conjunction with global resources such as the United Kingdom and Shanghai. It is produced and manufactured by Shanghai Automobile Transmission Co., Ltd. and has completely independent intellectual property rights. It is currently used in MG5, MG GT, MG GS and other models, and has been successfully promoted to Dongfeng Nissan and Huatai for launch in various models.
Compared with the traditional 5-speed manual gearbox, the 6-speed manual gearbox has more advantages in economy, power, handling and other aspects. At present, mainstream joint ventures are basically equipped with 6-speed manual gearboxes. The SCM250 gearbox conforms to the trend of multi-gear manual transmissions and is of great significance to the development of independent brands. The SCM250 gearbox adopts a three-shaft structure with six forward gears and a reverse gear. All driving gears are arranged on one input shaft, and some driven gears are arranged on each of the two intermediate shafts. The two intermediate shafts are simultaneously engaged with the main reduction driven gears., open differential, all gears adopt multi-conical carbon fiber friction material synchronizer, reverse gear adopts helical gear with synchronizer structure, and the selector and shift system adopts a relatively advanced integrated modular structure. The total length of the transmission is 349.6 mm. The total weight is 48 kilograms and the peak transmission efficiency is greater than 96%. Contains Start/Stop function and has a design life of 10 years and 160,000 kilometers. It can be applied to two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive passenger cars and off-road vehicles. It has the characteristics of small size, large load bearing, light shifting, good power performance, and excellent operating and driving performance. The bearing torque is 250 Nm and the maximum input speed is 6500rpm. The main technical parameters are as follows:
  1. Installation type: Horizontal front drive
  2. Number of gears: six forward gears, one reverse gear
  3. Number of shafts: three shafts (one input shaft, two intermediate shafts)
  4. Maximum bearing torque: 250 N.m
  5. Overall length of transmission: 349.6mm
  6. Center moment: 180mm
  7. Total weight (oil-free): 48Kg
  8. Transmission efficiency: 96%
  9. Synchronizer: Full-gear synchronizer design, carbon fiber friction material, better synchronization performance.
The smooth development of the SCM250 six-speed manual gearbox has improved the technical content of the self-owned brand manual gearbox, formed competition with similar products of the joint venture, complied with the development trend of manual transmissions, and filled the gap of the company in the 250Nm torque gearbox series. The smooth development of the SCM250 six-speed manual transmission has met SAIC Motor's differentiated strategy on the development of independent brands. It follows the joint venture brand in terms of technology and management, is ahead of the independent brand, and is ahead of the joint venture brand in terms of cost.
