This project takes the planning and construction of Urumqi urban expressway road network as the research background. First, by comprehensively analyzing the current situation of urban development and expressway road network operation, and taking the systematic theory of urban land and road transportation as the starting point, it analyzes the current urban expressway in Urumqi. Problems and crux. Secondly, through sorting out the planning theories and construction practices of urban expressways at home and abroad, the development laws of the expressway road network are summarized; with the help of the three major planning theories, the theoretical basis for the upgrading and expansion of Urumqi urban expressway road network is formed; Focusing on integrated urban transportation integration theory, we will carry out detailed comparison, selection and evaluation and demonstration of improvement plans, and put forward recommended plans for building a healthy development foundation for expressways and the details of planning and design. Scientifically predict the road traffic demand of Urumqi in 2030, research and analysis obtained the construction indicators of the expressway road network in the outer ring of Urumqi City, obtained the reasonable density indicators of the expressway road network in the core area of Urumqi City, and proposed the "Tian"-shaped expressway road network layout form. Finally, practical guidance and key suggestions are put forward for the implementation of the above-mentioned expressway road network improvement planning plan and its subsequent in-depth research directions.
The main innovations of the project are reflected in the following aspects:

  1. Reasonably put forward the density index of Urumqi Expressway Road Network. Through comparative analysis of relevant cases at home and abroad, the project based on the characteristics of high population density, low urban road network density, and low public transportation travel proportion in the core area of Urumqi City, in order to adapt to the higher planned control population and corresponding transportation needs, it is proposed for the first time that the construction density index of 0.6km/km2 for the expressway network within the outer ring road of Urumqi can reasonably adapt to the needs of transportation development.
  2. Reasonably proposed a "Tian"-shaped expressway road network layout form. By comparing the road network layout characteristics of major cities at home and abroad, the variation types of circular radial expressway road networks are analyzed, and according to the urban development pattern of Urumqi, the layout form of "Tian"-shaped expressway road network that conforms to the urban development trend is reasonably proposed., forming a skeleton pattern of the expressway road network with a "Tian"-shaped large cycle and four small cycles, effectively balancing the road network flow, building a skeleton for transportation in the core area of the city, and providing convenient conditions for medium and long-distance travel in the city. Especially in terms of the line selection of the east-west express axis, through comprehensive comparison and selection in terms of topography, connection relationship, transportation functions, etc., the original planned line location Xihong Road was abandoned, and the east-west route location of Karamay-Nanhu was innovatively proposed to achieve the best in terms of road network structure, traffic attraction, node functions, service scope, etc.
  3. Reasonable transformation plans are proposed for the expressway system (including nodes and sections) according to local conditions. Based on the reconstruction principle of "less demolition, less disturbance to the people, intensification, and complete functions," the research has overcome difficulties such as complex terrain and tight land use along the expressway construction, and flexibly adopts multiple cross-section design plans, especially in built-intensive areas. Multi-level fully interconnected interchange plan reduces demolition and achieves expansion of the rapid road network. In addition, it is proposed to build a new short-distance tunnel next to the existing tunnel. On the premise of maintaining safe traffic flow of existing traffic, it avoids the problems of expanding the channel bypassing the line and passing through mountains and separately land acquisition, and achieves the expansion of bottleneck sections.
    The project has passed the expert acceptance organized by Shanghai City Civil Engineering Society, and the results have generally reached the international advanced level. Based on the project, he published 2 papers. The research results of the project played a good guiding role in the planning and construction of the expressway road network in Urumqi City, and promoted the construction of the expressway road network in a scientific and orderly manner.
