This technology is a "new technology for the clean utilization of steel dust and non-ferrous metal smelting slag resources". This technology extracts various valuable elements such as zinc, indium, lead, cadmium, bismuth, tin, and iodine from heavy metal-containing waste, as well as industrial products such as fine iron powder and reduced iron powder, without discharge of wastewater and residue.

Commercial applications
In 2011, Xinlian Environmental Protection invested about 500 million yuan to build a comprehensive utilization project for solid waste iron-making smoke resources in Sishuizhuang New District, Gejiu City, Yunnan Province. The equipment investment was 128.93 million yuan, and the annual treatment of 700,000 to 800,000 tons of solid (hazardous) waste containing heavy metals. The project covers an area of 240 acres and has a total construction area of 54,000 m2. It fully entered large-scale production and application at the end of 2016. So far, production has been smooth, operation is good, and product quality is stable. Every year, 42,000 tons of zinc ingots (Zn 99.995%), 15,000 tons of zinc-aluminum alloy, 45 tons of crude indium (In 99.86%), 40,000 tons of by-product lead sulfate (Pb24.84%), 426 tons of crude cadmium (81.00%), 140 tons of bismuth residue (Bi 12.92%, Cu 5.61%), 17 tons of crude iodine (I 97.79%), purified iron powder, ultra-fine purified iron powder, potassium-sodium mixed salt and other products are recycled and produced.

In the wet process of this technology, the independently developed industrial oxygen removal iron ion technology from zinc sulfate solution is used to remove iron ions in zinc sulfate solution, fully reuse the surplus oxygen on the existing production line, reduce the consumption of hydrogen peroxide by 80%, and save the cost of 1.3056 million yuan/year, and the iron removal cost per ton of zinc is reduced from 401.45 yuan/tZn to 80.29 yuan/tZn. This technology implemented industrial production at the end of 2016, and achieved a significant increase in sales revenue in 2017, an increase of 36.84% compared with 2016. The total profit was 122.7935 million yuan and the net profit was 104.4103 million yuan.
