Key innovations
The innovation of this technology lies in that it combines electrolytic reduction method with nitrobenzene extraction to achieve no wastewater and no three wastes emissions in the production process of p-aminophenol, and is an environmentally friendly green process.
Potential economic benefits
Low production costs, excellent product quality, and broad market demand. There is no wastewater discharge, significantly reducing environmental protection expenditures, and outstanding economic benefits.
Potential climate benefits
No wastewater and three wastes emissions reduce energy consumption for waste treatment. If electrolysis is more energy-efficient than traditional processes, it will directly reduce carbon emissions.

Solution details

Introduction to the results:

Par-aminophenol (PAP) is a widely used fine chemical intermediate, mainly used in medicine, dyes, rubber, feed, petroleum and photography industries. It is used for the synthesis of analgesics such as paracetamol, acetamine, vitamin B1, complex agents niacinamide, hexahydroxyquinoline, propranolol and phenacetin, as well as the synthesis of disperse, acidic, direct, sulfurized and other dyes. It is also used in large quantities to synthesize p-phenylenediamine rubber antioxidants. It is estimated that my country's total demand for aminophenol will reach 150,000 tons in 2014. At present, my country's para-aminophenol application in the rubber industry and breeding industry still has large room for growth, and its market prospects are still promising.

The electrolytic reduction method uses nitrobenzene as raw material to prepare p-aminophenol, with by-products aniline and ammonium sulfate. Nitrobenzene is used as an extractant to extract and separate by-product aniline impurities, and the production process achieves a wastewater-free discharge process.

Technical advantages:

This process is characterized by simple process, low cost, good product quality and no pollution of three wastes. It is the most promising production process route. The development of this technology has gone through small and pilot studies.

Maturity of this technology: Pilot study

Application prospects:

This product is used in the manufacture of medicines, dyes, antioxidants, etc.
