Solution details

 The information and communication technology (ICT) industry is one of the world's largest energy-consuming industries, and energy consumption will increase by 5% per year in the next few years. It is urgent to advocate efficient, energy-saving and environmentally friendly green communication services and promote the sustainable development of the ICT industry. As an important part of ICT, the energy consumption problem of communication networks has become increasingly prominent. For the communication backbone network, the rapid expansion of network scale and the continuous increase in the number of devices have led to a huge increase in energy consumption. IP over WDM network is a universal communication backbone network architecture with the characteristics of wide coverage, large data volume, and high transmission rate, making it suitable for very large IP backbone networks. Implementing the energy-saving mechanism and evaluation issues of IP over WDM networks, and building a green IP over WDM network are of great significance to realizing energy conservation in communication networks.

 This project:

 (1) Implement a multi-objective collaborative green energy-saving mechanism: In view of the limitations of existing energy-saving mechanisms based on respective conditions and specific system attributes, hierarchical design is adopted, with network energy consumption and performance as the objective functions, and network node attributes, traffic, and work. Time, blocking rate, delay, etc. are used as parameters to establish a multi-objective collaborative energy-saving mechanism based on energy-saving mechanisms such as sleep, optical bypass, traffic grooming, and energy-aware routing;

 ( 2) Achieve multi-goal and multi-level energy conservation evaluation: Aiming at the problems of single evaluation factors and poor comparability of energy-saving effects in existing energy-saving evaluation methods, based on the multi-objective collaborative energy-saving mechanism, network analytic hierarchy process combined with fuzzy mathematics theory is applied to take the fairness, optimality and robustness of the energy-saving mechanism as the hierarchical analysis model, taking network energy consumption, energy-saving ratio, traffic, blocking rate, delay, etc. as the goals, and taking network node attributes, working time, dynamic services, etc. as the influencing parameters, an energy-saving evaluation method is established.

 This project provides a theoretical foundation and implementation method for effective energy conservation of IP OVER WDM networks, realizes "green energy conservation mechanism and green energy conservation evaluation", and has good economic and social benefits. This project has obtained a number of research results and national invention patents, and we hope to cooperate in the form of overall transfer.
