Solution details

This project belongs to the technical field of internal combustion engine engineering.
Today, the international community is paying increasing attention to and exerting pressure on environmental protection and energy conservation in the shipping industry. Domestic energy conservation and emission reduction tasks in various industries have also reached unprecedented heights. Under the dual pressure of international standards and domestic energy conservation and emission reduction responsibilities, our country's shipping and shipbuilding industries will face major challenges.
The International Maritime Organization stipulates that all large ships that begin construction after January 1, 2016 must meet the emission 3 (Tier III) specification requirements. To this end, the development of marine low-speed diesel engines with low emissions, low fuel consumption and high efficiency is an urgent task for current mainframe manufacturers. 10S90ME-C9.2 is an efficient, energy-saving, environmentally friendly, electronically controlled intelligent marine low-speed diesel engine launched under this situation.
This project is designed to meet the needs of large container ships. The matching of its speed and propellers can further improve the ship's propulsion efficiency. Compared with similar main engines, its fuel consumption can be saved by about 6g/kwh, and the ship energy efficiency (EEDI) index can be reduced by about 6%. Once launched, the aircraft has won the favor of shipowners due to its energy-saving, environmental protection, electronic control intelligence and other characteristics.
During the project implementation process, we formed the following main innovation points through research and technical research:

  1. Overcoming the segmented crankshaft installation technology:
Since the 10S90 ME-C diesel engine is equipped with 10 cylinders with a cylinder diameter of 900mm, its crankshaft must be assembled in sections. Segmented crankshaft assembly has technical problems such as difficulty in installation and complex disassembly process. Our company has adopted the connection method of "Hydraulic Operated Fitted Hydraulic Bolt"(hereinafter referred to as HOF Hydraulic Bolt) through technical research to solve this technical problem and ensure the safe and reliable output of crankshaft torque.
  2. Mastered the fuel consumption optimization technology of diesel engines
Exhaust Gas Bypass (hereinafter referred to as EGB) low-load optimization technology
After market research, many customers need to sail under medium and low loads for a long time. When developing the 10S90ME-C diesel engine, our company adopted Part Load Tuning part-load plus exhaust gas bypass fuel consumption optimization technical solution +EGB exhaust gas bypass technology. On the premise of adding very little equipment, the operating fuel consumption of diesel engines under medium and low loads has been greatly improved, and the fuel consumption is the lowest among similar models in the world, winning unanimous praise from customers.
  3. Torsional vibration improvement techniques:
Our company has formed the ability to independently calculate the unbalanced force/torque and guide rail torque of the mainframe, reaching the domestic advanced level. Relevant calculation conclusions were used to conduct dynamic model analysis, study vibration laws, improve relevant indicators and meet the requirements of international standards.
Through technical research, this project has formed the results of 4 invention patent authorizations and 5 utility model patent authorizations.
The 10S90ME-C marine low-speed diesel engine novelty search report contains the following description: "The 10S90ME-C diesel engine of this project is currently only produced by the entrusting party of this project. Compared with similar engines of Dalian Marine Diesel Engine Company, this product has greater power, lower unit fuel consumption, and better overall performance."
This project was released at the Advanced Maritime Forum of the 2013 China International Maritime Council, and its papers were included in the Maritime Council's Collection.
The key manufacturing technologies with independent intellectual property rights formed during the research and development process of the 10S90ME-C project are suitable for the research and development of other similar models of marine diesel engines, and will provide our company and other domestic main engine factories to develop larger and better diesel engine products in the future. It has laid a solid foundation and greatly enhanced the overall technological innovation capabilities of my country's shipbuilding industry.
As of the end of September 2014, a total of 11 diesel engines were sold, with total sales of 858.03 million yuan and profits and taxes of 113.3 million yuan, with significant economic benefits. At present, our company has 26 orders for this diesel engine project, and more than 20 plans for follow-up projects, covering the years 2016-2020, and the domestic market share has reached 100%.
