Brief description of technology
The combustion of domestic waste produces high-temperature flue gas that heats the water in the water wall tubes, and the water is transformed into superheated steam, which drives the steam turbine to drive the generator to operate and generate electricity. The incineration grate adopts "multi-stage reciprocating forward pushing + turning" mechanical grate furnace equipment. The average daily value of the flue gas after being treated through the "SNCR+ semi-dry + dry + activated carbon adsorption + bag dust removal" combined process reaches the EU 2010 emission standard. The leachate treatment system adopts the process of "pretreatment + high-efficiency anaerobic IOC+ aerobic A/O+ ultrafiltration + chemical softening + microfiltration + reverse osmosis". The produced water is reused in the plant.

Commercial applications
Everbright Environmental Protection Energy (Can Tho) Co., Ltd.(hereinafter referred to as the "Can Tho Project") is a wholly foreign-owned enterprise invested by China Everbright Environment (Group) Co., Ltd. in Vietnam. Its main scope is to invest, build, manage and operate domestic waste incineration power plants, and carry out power production and operation activities through incineration and processing of domestic waste. The project was signed and obtained an investment license on December 20, 2016. Construction started on June 30, 2017, and was completed and put into operation on November 26, 2018. Can Tho Project is the first modern domestic waste power generation project put into operation in Vietnam, the first project completed in countries along the "Belt and Road", and the first overseas project constructed in EPC mode. The design scale of the project is a 400-ton daily domestic waste incinerator and a 7.5MW steam turbine generator set. The completion and operation of the project has received high attention from domestic media and Vietnamese media, and has been widely praised.

The Can Tho project is a Foreign Direct Investment model. The project has a business period of 22 years (including a 2-year construction period). It is equipped with an incinerator that processes 400 tons of domestic waste per day and a 7.5MW steam turbine generator unit, with a total investment of more than 47 million US dollars.
Annual operation and maintenance fee
During normal operation of the system, the cost per unit product is the garbage disposal fee per ton, which is about 150-210 yuan/ton, including raw material fees (Environmentally friendly materials such as limestone, ammonia water, chelating agents, activated carbon, and pharmaceuticals), water, electricity, spare parts, production safety, environmental protection, as well as labor costs (wages), depreciation of plants and machinery and equipment, repairs, management fees and other maintenance expenses, of which the relatively large account for raw material costs, labor costs (wages), equipment depreciation, and repair costs.

After applying domestic waste incineration technology, the biggest additional economic benefit is increased power generation revenue. The average electricity per ton of garbage is 280-320 kilowatt-hours. Based on the daily average of domestic waste entering the plant of the Can Tho project, it can generate more than 50 million kilowatt-hours of electricity throughout the year.

The Can Tho project processes 500 tons of domestic garbage per day, accounting for about 75% of the total daily garbage cleared and transported in Can Tho City. It basically solves the environmental pollution problem caused by the original landfill treatment method of local domestic garbage.
