I. project background
the Expo Performance Center (Formerly known as the "Expo Cultural Center", now known as the "Mercedes-Benz Cultural Center") Located in the core area of the Expo, with a total construction area of 140,277 m2. The Performing Arts Center is positioned as a multi-functional modern cultural and entertainment gathering area. It is a large-scale cultural building complex. The main venue is a 18,000-seat multi-functional performing arts space with supporting cultural, entertainment, commercial, catering, sightseeing and other facilities. The Expo Performing Arts Center is the main venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Expo. During the Expo, he undertook many large-scale performances and activities. After the World Expo, major events such as Faye Wong's Shanghai Concert, NBA China Shanghai Station, the 30th Anniversary of the Rolling Stone, and the 20th Anniversary of the Oriental Billboard were successfully held in this venue, and the popularity of the venue increased day by day. In 2011 and 2012, 128 and 95 events were held respectively, achieving operating income of 130 million and 150 million yuan respectively, which is unique among similar venues in China and has achieved good social and economic benefits.
The project research is carried out in conjunction with the construction project of the Expo Performing Arts Center, closely related to the actual situation of the project construction, starting from the perspectives of the design, construction and management of the Expo Performing Arts Center, grasping the technical difficulties in each link, and providing technical support for the construction of the Expo project through the project research. Scientific research results have been successfully applied to the construction of the Expo Performing Arts Center, and can also provide theoretical and practical reference and reference for the construction of similar projects in the future.
II. Research content and main characteristics
1 There is little mature experience in the flexible separation and multi-functional use of large-scale performance spaces in the world, but it is still blank in China. Through research, the main venue can be flexibly divided into multiple use models such as 10000, 8000, and 5000 seats, making it the country's first comprehensive multi-functional performing arts venue with variable capacity.
2 Based on the national "Green Building Evaluation Standards", the Expo Performing Arts Center comprehensively carries out research and application of green building technology, which fully reflects the demonstration role of the permanent Expo venues. This study also ensures that the Expo Performing Arts Center becomes the country's highest-level "three-star" green building.
3 The life safety system of the Performing Arts Center is developed for the unprecedented and unique multi-functional composite space and large-scale audiences and tourists gathering and dispersing objects in this project. There is no precedent to follow for such buildings, and the research results provide theoretical and practical basis for design.
4 The spatial positioning and plate division and fixation of hypercurved building skins are difficult points in architectural design. The project studies three-digit design technical methods and develops a patented product for plate fixation, providing a feasible method for similar hypercurved design.
5 Long cantilever and long-span structures pose challenges to structural design. Research on human-induced vibration reduction, conceptual application of structural upper and lower limits, and overall design method of circumferential beams have been tested and applied in the project, achieving structural safety and supporting user comfort.
III. main results
The research team solved a series of technical problems through scientific research and technological innovation. The project has formed innovative design technologies such as architecture, structure, green, and safety for large-scale cultural performance buildings, which have effectively supported the construction of the Expo Performing Arts Center. The project has obtained 3 utility model patents and applied for 2 invention patents. At the same time, the project won the national "Green Samsung Design Evaluation Mark"; the Shanghai City Society Architectural Creation Award Excellence Award; the National Survey and Design Award; the Shanghai City Survey and Design Award; the "Innovation Cup" jointly organized by the China Survey and Design Association and AUTODESK First prize in 4 designs in the "Innovation Cup" Building Information Modeling (BIM) Design Competition: Singapore CITYSCAPE AWARD REAL ESTATE ASIA Best Urban Complex Award; Taiwan Far East Architecture "Excellence Award"; Awards such as the Zhan Tianyou Award have achieved significant environmental, social and economic benefits.
