As the global industry's demand for clean energy increases, the demand for natural gas, as one of the first choices for clean energy, is increasing day by day. Energy companies around the world have increased the development of natural gas fields. Some natural gas fields with high content of H2S and CO2 have also gradually entered the vision of developers. However, because these natural gas fields are high in corrosive gases, they will cause strong corrosion to drilling equipment, well control and Christmas tree equipment, which will cause early failure of equipment. This resulted in major production accidents and caused heavy losses to people, equipment and the environment. Therefore, the development of this part of the gas field has put forward higher and stricter requirements for the anti-corrosion performance of equipment such as drilling, well control and Christmas trees.
The American Petroleum Institute standard API Spec 6A "Wellhead and Christmas Tree Equipment Specifications" stipulates various grades of metal materials that meet the American Society of Anti-corrosion Engineers standard NACE MRO175 "Metallic Materials Resisting Hydrogen Sulfide Stress Corrosion Cracking for Oilfield Equipment". Among them, the HH grade material is the highest grade material and is suitable for corrosive environments with high hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide.
At present, internationally renowned wellhead equipment companies, including Cameron, FMC, Vetco Gray, and Wood Group, have the processing, manufacturing capabilities and qualifications of HH level wellhead, with a maximum pressure level of 20000psi. Domestic high-corrosion-resistant wellhead equipment basically relies on imports. The high-end products used in domestic oil fields, especially HH-class high sulfur resistance oil and gas production wellhead, still need to rely on expensive imported equipment. The domestic H-class high sulfur resistance wellhead device is still in a blank state, breaking through the technical barrier and realizing H-class wellhead equipment localization is of great significance.
In order to make up for this market gap, Shenkai and Sinopec jointly listed HH-class high-sulfur resistant wellhead devices and oil production (gas) trees as one of the major R & D projects, and carried out a large number of research on design, process, and patented technologies, and at the same time, supporting the design and manufacture of PR2 test devices, and carrying out fire resistance tests.
The main technical contents of this project include:
  1. Determine the material selection plan for each component of the HH level wellhead device based on the equipment's operating conditions, and complete laboratory and field tests;2. Develop ETR system and hot wire technology, and formulate a nickel-based alloy for surfacing welding of wellhead equipment flow channels with high corrosion requirements;3. Design gate valve, throttle valve, emergency shutoff valve, actuator structures that meet the technical requirements of temperature, pressure, high corrosion resistance, etc.;4. Design an all-metal sealing structure for the main channel;5. Design a high-pressure and high-risk Christmas tree safety control system.

At the same time, high-yield oil and gas fields such as the Middle East, Central Asia, Africa, and Southeast Asia, as well as countries restricted by the OFAC agreement, highly cost-effective China products are very welcome, and the prospects for foreign exchange exchange through exports are huge.
The corrosion resistance of Shenkai HH-class high sulfur resistant wellhead units and oil production (gas) trees has reached the highest level in the world, filling the gap in domestic products, improving the overall technical level of China's oil drilling and production industry, and promoting the transformation of enterprises from large-scale manufacturing to technology.
