Key innovations
The innovation lies in that it takes nanocomposite resin to enhance adsorption as the core and couples conventional units to achieve advanced treatment and reuse of heavy metal wastewater and meet the standards at low cost.
Potential economic benefits
Fines are avoided for meeting standards for emission standards, and the cost of deep treatment is low (<0.56 yuan/m3), which realizes wastewater reuse, saves water resources and reduces water intake costs.
Potential climate benefits
The advanced treatment and reuse of wastewater has greatly reduced energy consumption in the extraction, purification and transportation of fresh water, directly bringing greenhouse gas emission reduction benefits.

Solution details

In response to the upgrading of production wastewater emissions in electroplating, electronics, printed circuit board (PCB) and other industries, this project, with the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Science and Technology Department of Jiangsu Province and other units, has successfully developed an integrated technology for advanced treatment and reuse of heavy metal wastewater with nano-composite resin enhanced adsorption as the core and coupled with conventional treatment units such as chemical precipitation. Engineering application results show that after treatment, this kind of wastewater can meet the "Emission Limits of Major Water Pollutants from Urban Sewage Treatment Plants and Key Industrial Industries in Taihu Region"(DB32/T1072-2007) and the New Wastewater Discharge Standards for the Electroplating Industry (GB21900 -2008), and the advanced treatment cost is 0.56 yuan/m3 (wastewater).
