Key innovations
The innovation of this AIS system is that its MKD display unit integrates the patented Chinese short message sending and receiving function, optimizing ship information interaction capabilities.
Potential economic benefits
This technology significantly reduces ship accident losses, insurance and operating costs through collision prevention and optimized management; improves shipping efficiency and saves fuel; and has dual-use market potential for military and civilian use and increases revenue.
Potential climate benefits
AIS provides real-time ship information, optimizes route planning and traffic management, and effectively reduces unnecessary sailing miles and waiting times for ships. This directly reduces ship fuel consumption, thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

Solution details

*Technology/project introduction (background, status, characteristics, etc.): AIS (Automatic Identification System) is the full name of Automatic Identification System. In recent years, the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the International Association of Navigation Aids (IALA), and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has been jointly researched and selected. One of the equipment must be installed on ships.

*Main technical indicators: The AIS system integrates navigation information collection and processing, radio data transmission, and electronic chart information system. It uses self-organized time division multiple access communication technology (SOTDMA) to divide time into frames, and each frame is divided into several time slots. Each station automatically selects idle time slots and broadcasts relevant information on the station by VHF transmitters. After all ships or shore stations equipped with AIS automatically receive it, it displays it on their displays, and can send relevant safety and other information as required. The bridge for information exchange between ship and shore is an important part of ship digital traffic management; its main role is to prevent ship collisions and improve water transport traffic safety; it also provides ship navigation information for water transport management to facilitate port and shore management. The AWAIS-1 AIS system consists of an AIS host and an MKD display unit.

*Current application situation: AIS host mainly provides functions such as network monitoring, user information acquisition, ship information broadcasting, ship safety monitoring, ship navigation information collection, uploading network user information to PC or MKD and other devices, and shore-based command response. The MKD display unit mainly provides network users with dynamic, static and navigation related information, and also provides functions such as sending and receiving short messages (including Chinese short messages-patented), AIS host parameter settings, and electronic charts.

*Application prospects of "civilian joining the army" or "military conversion": This product is widely used in naval equipment, and the naval equipment department is welcome to discuss cooperation in development and application.
