Coastal wetlands have high carbon sequestration efficiency and can help carbon neutrality goals. Integrating digital technologies such as automatic observation, drone/remote sensing big data, and numerical simulation, we have developed a low-cost and high-efficiency carbon sink monitoring and evaluation information system, which has been successfully applied to carbon sink monitoring and value assessment of typical coastal wetlands, providing scientific and technological support for formulating coastal wetlands protection and restoration policies and exploring ecological carbon sink economy. Through the deep integration of "industry, academia and application", the project is expected to open up science, technology, science popularization, market and other links, and has high application and promotion value. At the same time, it can form new economic growth points, promote the protection and restoration of marine ecological environment, further bring huge economic and social benefits, and provide science for my country to develop a low-carbon economy, increase climate negotiation chips, and enhance international influence.
Tencent Carbon Neutralization Laboratory cooperates with Xiamen University to carry out the Marine Carbon Sink Technology Development (BLUE-CARE) project, which is committed to testing and quantifying the carbon capture and storage capabilities of marine ecosystems and helping accelerate the realization of net-zero emissions. Building a complete ocean carbon sink assessment method is a key step in quantifying ocean carbon sequestration and sequestration capabilities and providing necessary data for environmental policies and carbon trading systems. Accurate assessments can also provide guidance for targeted ocean restoration and ecological management strategies, giving full play to the carbon capture potential of the global ocean in the process of responding to climate change.
