(1) Basic information

RTO (Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer, referred to as RTO), a regenerative oxidation furnace. The principle is that

Organic compounds (VOCs) in the exhaust gas are oxidized into corresponding carbon dioxide and water at high temperatures, thereby purifying the exhaust gas and recovering the heat released when the exhaust gas is decomposed. The three-chamber RTO exhaust gas decomposition efficiency reaches more than 99%, and the heat recovery efficiency reaches more than 95%. The main structure of RTO consists of a combustion chamber, a regenerator and a switching valve. Select different heat energy recovery methods and switching valve methods according to the actual needs of customers.

(2) Product introduction

The principle is to heat organic waste gas to above 760 degrees Celsius (depending on the composition) to oxidize and decompose the VOCs in the waste gas into carbon dioxide and water. The high-temperature gas produced by oxidation flows through a special ceramic heat accumulator, which heats the ceramic body and "stores heat". This "heat accumulator" is used to preheat the organic waste gas that subsequently enters. Thereby saving fuel consumption caused by heating exhaust gas. The ceramic regenerator should be divided into more than two (inclusive), and each regenerator should undergo the procedures of heat storage, heat release and cleaning in turn, and work continuously. Immediately after the regenerator releases heat, it should be drained

Add a proper amount of clean air to clean the regenerator (to ensure that the VOC removal rate is above 98%), and the "heat storage" process can only be entered after the cleaning is completed. Otherwise, residual VOCS will be emitted to the chimney along with the flue gas, thereby reducing treatment efficiency. The five-tower RTO has the following advantages:

● It can treat almost all exhaust gases containing organic compounds;

● Can process organic waste gas with large air volume and low concentration;

● High flexibility in handling organic waste gas flow (nominal flow 20%~120%);

● Can adapt to changes and fluctuations in the composition and concentration of VOCs in organic waste gas;

● Insensitive to a small amount of dust and solid particles entrained in the exhaust gas;

● The highest thermal efficiency of all thermal combustion purification methods (>95%);

● Self-heating operation can be achieved without adding auxiliary fuel under appropriate exhaust gas concentration conditions;

● High purification efficiency (>99%);

● Less maintenance workload and safe and reliable operation;

● Organic precipitates can be removed periodically, and the regenerator can be replaced;

● The pressure loss of the entire device is small;

● Long service life of the device. Compared with the existing RTO, the five-tower RTO treatment efficiency is higher. The maximum air volume that can be processed at one time is 120,000 m3/h, which can meet the exhaust gas treatment requirements of multiple production lines at the same time. Therefore, multiple production lines can be connected to the new RTO equipment at the same time, without the need to turn on other RTO equipment, achieving the purpose of saving natural gas energy.

(3) Product application areas

RTO incinerators are mainly used in the petroleum industry and chemical plants, paint production, processing and spraying, packaging and printing, electronic components and cables, pesticides and dyes, pharmaceuticals, picture tubes, films, tapes and other manufacturing industries.

(4) Application cases

3M China Limited 3M Xinqiao Factory CX2 New RTO Project,

1) Implementation content and cycle: This renovation project is to install a five-tower regenerative combustion furnace (RTO) with large air volume and high efficiency. Before the project renovation, there were three combustion furnaces (2 RTO and 1 TO) in use, which supplied heat to the CX2, CX3, CX7, CX8, and CX11 production lines respectively; after the project renovation, the five-tower regenerative combustion furnace with large air volume and high efficiency was purchased and installed to simultaneously meet the emission treatment requirements of Xinqiao Plant's CX2, CX3, CX7, CX8 and CX11 production lines. The original three combustion furnaces were used as backup. At the same time, the existing exhaust pipes are renovated and isolation air valves are installed so that the production line can be switched to a new regenerative combustion furnace for treatment through the exhaust pipes. The project officially began to be renovated in January 2019, was completed in July 2019, and all equipment was put into operation.

2) Energy conservation and emission reduction effect and investment payback period: The project saves 2.0616 million m3 of natural gas, and the energy conservation amount is 2680 tons of standard coal. Based on the company's natural gas purchase unit price of 3.37 yuan/m3, the project saves 6.9477 million yuan annually. The investment amount of this project is 25.3396 million yuan, so the investment payback period of this project is 3.6 years.
