Key innovations
This "five-box integrated" activated sludge process is proposed and applied for the first time. It achieves periodic diversion of water flow by connecting multiple tanks in series and alternating inlet and outlet water, eliminating the need for reflux of sludge and mixed liquor, significantly reducing investment and energy consumption, and efficiently removing phosphorus and denitrification.
Potential economic benefits
This technology significantly reduces equipment investment and power consumption by eliminating the backflow of sludge and mixed liquor, and has obvious energy-saving effects. Its efficient phosphorus and nitrogen removal, combined with low operating costs, is especially suitable for small and medium-sized sewage treatment, which can save investment and operating costs.
Potential climate benefits
By optimizing the process design, this project eliminates the need for reflux of sludge and mixed liquor, and significantly reduces the power consumption and operating energy consumption of the sewage treatment process. This "significant energy-saving effect" directly reduces power demand.

Solution details

Project Introduction:

For the first time, this project proposes and uses a five-tank integrated activated sludge process to develop and research sewage phosphorus and denitrification technology and equipment. It adopts a multi-tank series connection form, which not only has the characteristics of a cascade reactor, but also is easy to meet the phosphorus and denitrification process. The anaerobic and aerobic alternating environmental requirements, continuous flow and constant water level operation. By alternating the positions of water inlet and water outlet, multi-point water inlet and two-point water outlet are realized, water flow turns to flow in cycle alternation, sludge backflow and mixed liquid backflow are avoided, and equipment investment and power consumption are low.

Project advantages:

The process has the characteristics of high phosphorus and nitrogen removal efficiency, stable operation when the influent water is low, no need for the backflow of mixed liquor and sludge, and small head loss. Compared with the conventional A2/O process and its improved process, it has obvious energy-saving effect.

Project maturity:

Small batch production stage

Income analysis:

This is a patented invention technology. Currently, there is no engineering application at home and abroad. However, a pilot plant has been successfully running for 2 years. It is necessary to summarize and improve this technology and formulate standards. The multi-tank integrated activated sludge process is particularly suitable for small and medium-sized domestic sewage and urban sewage treatment. While saving investment and operating costs, it facilitates professional centralized management. The promotion prospects are good.
