Key innovations
The innovation of this technology lies in the development of high-performance carbon dioxide capture materials, which are effectively applied to calcium cycle biological clean power generation. It utilizes the reversible reaction of calcium monoxide and carbon dioxide to achieve efficient capture, storage and release.
Potential economic benefits
Capture carbon dioxide efficiently with low energy consumption, significantly reduce carbon emission costs, improve power generation efficiency, and create new economic value for carbon resources.
Potential climate benefits
This technology directly reduces greenhouse gas emissions by efficiently capturing carbon dioxide during power generation. Calcium cycle biological clean power generation uses a new adsorbent that can remove CO2 from the exhaust gas of coal-fired or natural gas power plants and achieve capture, storage and release with extremely low energy consumption.

Solution details

Researchers at the University of Queensland have developed a series of high-performance materials that capture carbon dioxide and use calcium recycling biological clean power generation. Calcium recycling uses a reversible reaction between calcium oxide and carbon dioxide to capture, store and release carbon dioxide. This new adsorbent can be introduced into the post-combustion stage or the pre-combustion stage of power generation, which has extremely low total energy penalties.
